Phoenix Fall Classic Chess Tournament

Sunday, December 10th, 10am - 2pm
Shea Middle School, 2728 E Shea Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85028

This tournament has 5 different sections for players depending on their age and skill.  Children play only against opponents in their own section.  The first round is at 10:00am for all sections.  The tournament concludes around 2:00pm with a brief awards ceremony where the top players and top schools receive trophies.

* Players should arrive around 9:45am
* The first round begins at 10:00am
* All sections are non-elimination, and all players participate in all four rounds
* We provide FREE US Chess Federation memberships for all participants in the rated sections, a $17 value!
* Prices will rise from $40 to $50 the Tuesday before the tournament.  Starting Friday at noon, registration is $60.
* Chess sets are provided, but bring a clock if you have one.

 

Here are the sections:

Beginner Grades K-2

This section is for players in their first or second tournament.  Most games will not have clocks.

Beginner Grades 3-5

This section is for players in their first or second tournament.  Most games will not have clocks.

Beginner Grades 6-12

This section is for players in their first or second tournament.  Most games will not have clocks.

Rated Grades K-5

This section is open to intermediate and advanced players in K-5.   Each player will play 4 games, and players using a clock should set it to G/25 with a 5 second delay.  Most games will not have clocks.  This section is US Chess rated.

Rated Grades 6-12
This section is open to intermediate and advanced players in 6-12. Each player will play 4 games, and players using a clock should set it to G/25 with a 5 second delay. Most games will not have clocks. This section is US Chess rated.
