Baltimore County Classic Chess Tournament 11/16

Saturday, November 16th, 10am - 3pm

This tournament has six different sections for players depending on their age and skill.  Participants play only against opponents in their own section.  The first round is at 10:00am for all sections.  The tournament concludes around 4:00pm with an awards ceremony where the top players and top school receive trophies.

* Players should arrive at 9:45am
* The first round begins at 10:00am and the other rounds start at 11:15, 12:30, 1:45, and 3:00pm
* All sections are non-elimination, and all players participate in all five rounds
* We provide FREE US Chess Federation memberships for all participants, a $17 value!
* For players using chess clocks, the time control is G/25 with a 5-second time delay
* Park in the Charmuth Parking Lot in back of the school and enter through the gym

 

There are three beginner sections for players in their first tournament, or who've played in tournaments but are rated below the threshold:

Grades K - 3 (under 400)
Grades 4 - 8 (under 400)
Grades 9-12 (under 1000)

K-8 Intermediate U-700 Section
This section is for players rated between 400 and 699.

K-8 Advanced U-1000 Section
This section is for players rated between 700 and 999.

K-12 Championship Section
This section is for players rated 1000 or higher.  It is also open to lower-rated players that want more of a challenge.

Online registration is $55 until noon on the Tuesday before the tournament.  Starting Tuesday at noon, online registration is $70.  Players who register after 9:30am on Saturday will miss the first round.  Chess sets are provided, but bring a clock if you have one.
