Epic King Hunts:
When the enemy king is weak, we must attack! In a king hunt, the attacker often sacrifices material to force the king into the open. Will he run away to safety? Or will the hunt end in checkmate? We will look at some famous king hunts from chess history as well as more modern examples of these exciting pursuits.
Beginners will practice all of their basic tactics and checkmating combinations, in the context of well played attacking games. Our more advanced students will practice recognizing positions where a king hunt might work, calculating long forcing lines, and evaluating the defensive resources of the opposing side.
