Gukesh, World Champion at Eighteen:

In 2024, Gukesh Dommaraju turned eighteen years old and became the 18th World Chess Champion. Not a bad year! All of India cheered the new champion when he defeated Ding Liren in the final 14th game of their match in Singapore. Gukesh returned home to a hero’s welcome and was awarded “Sportsman of the Year” for 2024. Suddenly, chess was bigger than cricket!

In this camp, we trace Gukesh’s rise to grandmaster and his road to the world championship.  Beginners will learn how masterful games are built on simple tactics, principled opening play, and always trying to find the best move.  Advanced students will study Gukesh’s games in more detail as he fought for advantage against the best players in the world.
