Time

The focus in these classes is to prepare students to play in slower in-person tournaments. We'll be covering practical positional and tactical ideas, and working on calculation. The focus is mostly on positions where students need to consider and evaluate a few different options, and spend more than a minute or two thinking.

Classes are appropriate for students K-8 who are rated under 1400 USCF, including players who've never played in a tournament before. Students will be grouped by skill.

We're using the software Chessable Classroom. If you haven't used it, it's basically zoom for chess! To join, you'll need to go to chessable.com and create a Chessable account if you don't already have one. It should only take a minute. It's going to let us do some really cool things during the lessons!

Classes are 1.5 hours long. We'll have two different class options (7 weeks each):

  • Tuesdays 5:30pm-7:00pm EST (Mar 28-May 9)
  • Thursdays 7:00pm-8:30pm EST (Mar 30-May 11)
